Sara Pounds is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Phoenix in 2009 and her Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology from Mid-America Christian University in 2014. She previously worked for 2 years in a community behavioral health agency and collaborated with Shawnee Public Schools.
She enjoys working with people of all ages, but her true passion is working with children. She is certified in doing Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and is a Registered Play Therapist (RPT). Sara will be offering Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) beginning in the Fall of 2021. EMDR has proven effective in treating trauma as well as many other issues with which a client may struggle. Sara is in the process of completing her EMDR certification through the EMDR Institute founded by Francine Shapiro. She works with clients to provide assistance with issues related to anger, anxiety, depression, behavior problems, grief, and trauma. Sara and her husband Shawn have been married for 16 years and have three children. Sara attends Immanuel Baptist Church.
