Robert Newton, MS, LMFT

Robert is licensed in the State of Oklahoma as a Marital and Family Therapist. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (1988) from California Baptist University and his Master’s degree in Counseling (1993) from California State University–Bakersfield. He specializes in trauma, anxiety, and depression across the lifespan, as well as family and marital counseling.

Robert is a national provider of Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) for trauma. He has received specialized training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) and integrates EFT-informed approaches into his work with couples. His clinical background includes work with children, foster care, residential adolescents, private practice, Christian counseling in a church setting, veterans and their families, and community mental health. Robert has provided counseling services in California, Alaska, and Oklahoma.

Robert’s deepest passion is his faith, which shapes his work and life as a husband, father, and grandfather. He and his wife, Karen, have been married for 40 years and have three children and three grandchildren. They are active members of Trinity Baptist Church in Pauls Valley. For self-care, Robert enjoys time with family, riding his motorcycle, and collecting various distinct and nostalgic items.
