Bret Ellard is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) credentialed through the Oklahoma State Board of Behavioral Health. He received his B.A. in Theology and a minor in Psychology from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1981. In 1989, he completed his graduate studies from the University of Central Oklahoma in the area of Counseling Psychology. A former Student Personnel Administrator with OBU from 1981 to 1993, Bret moved into full-time counseling in August of 1993 and has served in that capacity for nearly 30 years.
In August of 2013, Bret, along with Larry Roberts and Heather Annis, founded The Center for Christian Counseling and Care, PLLC. Bret provides assistance to individuals, couples, and families struggling with an array of issues and works with all ages. Anxiety, depression, bereavement, conflict resolution, values clarification, and parenting problems are among the challenges facing many of the people who call upon Bret for his help and guidance.
In addition to his role as a counselor, he is frequently asked to speak at professional meetings, church programs, and community events. Bret and his wife, Rhonda have been married for over 40 years. Rhonda retired following a career as an elementary school teacher for 38 years. The Ellards are active members of Immanuel Baptist Church in Shawnee, OK where he serves as a deacon and teaches Sunday School. Rhonda participates in the church orchestra. They have a son, Ben and his wife, Amber, who make their home in Paducah, Kentucky. Ben serves as a Parent Liaison with the Headstart Program and coaches wrestling. Amber holds a degree from Morehead State University in animal science and works in a veterinary clinic as a Vet Tech. They have given Bret and Rhonda their only grandchild, Avery Grace.
Bret’s hobbies include refinishing antique furniture, motorcycle ministry, classic cars, and yard work.
